It’s a long weekend and I’m working through it so I can go visit some of my favorite people up in the PNW next week!! This suite gives me all the summer feels and I’m ready for some ☀️ even though we have major May Gray and June Gloom happening over here! Apparently it’s going to be sunnier and warmer up in Oregon and Washington haha! What are your plans for this long weekend?? . Happy Friday everyone! I’m Kaylyn, the one behind Pirouette Paper! I haven’t done a #fridayintroduction in a while so here’s some fun facts about myself! . 1. I was born and raised in San Diego and I absolutely love it there! My wonderful parents still live down there, so we are down there pretty often. My dogs @graysonandolive especially love visiting their grandma + grandpa! (so weird to call them that hahaha) 🌴 🐶 . 2. I worked at Disneyland in the character department and that’s where I met my husband @ocdogdad! I worked there for four years and absolutely loved it - such a great experience during college! 🏰 👑 can you guess who I was “friends” with?? . 3. I’m currently sick with some sort of cold/sinus thing and my favorite movie to watch when I’m sick is Blue Crush! It was always what I watched when I stayed home sick from school and it will always be the best movie to watch when I’m under the weather (even though I watch it all the time too haha) . This week is full of production for two beautiful weddings this weekend! One of them has mirrors like this one and I’m so excited to show you all of the prettiness! Next month will mark 3 years of being full time with Pirouette Paper! I am so thankful to be doing what I love every day and as stressful as it may be, having my own business definitely sparks so much joy! I am also so thankful for the wonderful people I’ve met in this industry. I’ve had the most awesome couples, worked with some of the most talented vendors around and have been working on projects I only dreamed of when I was just starting out! . If you’re starting out on your own calligraphy journey, you’re a rockstar. I took my first calligraphy class from @jennarainey in 2014 and I was TERRIBLE when I first started! It’s all about practice and wanting to grow. Keep practicing, keep learning, find inspiration everywhere, don’t dream small. Utilize amazing resources (@designbylaney & @jennarainey are bomb.com for that), have a #communityovercompetition mindset, keep doing what you’re doing as long as it’s still sparking joy for you! . Envelope liners are such a personal and beautiful touch! Remember that your invites set the tone for your wedding and an envelope liner is a great way to bring in some elements, (whether colors, venue sketch, or florals) that are special to your day! . My biggest tip with envelope liners: have an inner and outer envelope with the inner one having the liner in it. Liners are a beautiful addition, but they're not cheap so if you have them in your main envelope, most people will just tear right through them. If you have an outer envelope, it helps protect the invites, it's the "throw away" one that always gets stamped + tossed around in transit and then they have a beautiful inner envelope (that's not sealed) to open, see the liner in pristine condition and awe over it! . Basically - liners are totally worth it, but make sure you make them worth it with an outer envelope too! (: .
